  • Our preferred method of receiving referrals is via Argus (secure message)

You can also make a referral by emailing: hello@johncapon.co

    Please address referrals to:
    John Capon (provider no. 5918845H)
    John Capon Psychology
    Suite 6 / 25 Foss St,
    Palmyra, WA 6157

  • If your patient is seeking a medicare rebate, please provide a mental health treatment plan (MHTP) and ensure the referral outlines the number of sessions required (normally six).

My standard fee for psychotherapy/counselling is currently $195, meaning that patients with a valid MHTP can expect to pay an out-of-pocket gap fee of approximately $105 per session.

Please understand that while I offer a reduced fee service for a proportion of patients (e.g., pension, healthcare card, or financial hardship), I do not offer bulk-billed services. Patients should be aware there will be an out-of-pocket gap fee of approximately $60 per session.

  • If your patient is entitled to DVA-funded services, please ensure that you use the DVA request/referral form (D904) [external link], or if you are using your own letterhead, please include all required referral information (per the D904).

If your patient is not entitled to DVA-funded services, they may be entitled to counselling through Open Arms. Please contact me to discuss how I can assist with accessing this service.

  • Once I have received a referral, I will attempt to contact your patient to introduce myself and schedule their first appointment. Your patient can also book online at https://www.johncapon.co/book-now

After the first session, I normally call and send a referral acceptance/treatment plan to the referrer. I prefer to work closely with GP’s and other referrers to ensure patient’s gets an integrated and comprehensive service that best meets their needs.

In addition to providing the regular reporting and updates during each treatment cycle, you can expect that I will touch base to discuss our patient’s progress and to ensure that you are kept informed and involved in the care provided to our patient.
